Fleet Manager – Springs

Job Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Fleet Manager to lead and oversee the Company’s fleet and workshop operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management of fleet assets and workshop activities, ensuring optimal vehicle availability, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and cost control. The role requires a proactive leader who can drive continuous improvement, enhance fleet performance, and support the achievement of the Company’s operational objectives.

Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 (Matric) is essential
  • Degree in Fleet Management, Transport Management, Logistics, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field is essential
  • Valid Driver’s Licence is essential
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Training or experience in fleet management systems, workshop operations, occupational health and safety, vehicle maintenance planning, and budget management will be advantageous.
Experience Required:

A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a fleet management, transport management, or similar role, with exposure to:

  • Managing fleet operations, vehicle utilisation, and maintenance programmes to ensure optimal fleet availability and reliability
  • Supervising workshop activities, including preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and the management of vehicle downtime
  • Applying strong mechanical knowledge and technical expertise in vehicle systems, diagnostics, maintenance practices, and automotive components to support effective decision-making and workshop operations
  • Demonstrating a sound understanding of vehicle parts, components, suppliers, and repair requirements to ensure cost-effective maintenance and minimise vehicle downtime.
  • Leading and managing operational teams, including performance management, work allocation, coaching, and staff development
  • Monitoring and controlling fleet-related expenditure, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and operational budgets
  • Managing vehicle licensing, compliance, roadworthiness requirements, fleet documentation, and regulatory obligations
  • Coordinating with service providers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective fleet and workshop operations
  • Maintaining accurate fleet records, reports, maintenance schedules, and asset
Technical and Behavioural competencies required:
  • Strong knowledge of fleet operations, vehicle maintenance planning, workshop management, and asset lifecycle management to ensure optimal fleet availability and reliability
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, develop, and performance-manage teams while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads, coordinate maintenance schedules, manage resources effectively, and meet operational deadlines
  • Strong budgeting, cost management, and analytical skills with the ability to monitor fleet expenditure, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimise operational efficiency
  • Ability to analyse complex operational challenges, make sound decisions under pressure, implement effective solutions, and maintain high service delivery standards
