How long is the waiting period?
The waiting period on this cover for you and your dependents is six months for Natural death, 12 months for Suicide and no waiting period for Unnatural death provided the policy has started and first premium is paid.
Does Tshipi-Noto offer the services in all 9 provinces and out of South Africa?
Tshipi-Noto does offer services in all provinces however, Funerals outside a 100 km radius of the branch will be charged according to the AA rates. Tshipi-Noto does not offer services out of South Africa.
When must the policy be paid?
The policy should be paid on or before the 7th of every month.
How long does it take for policy to lapse?
The policy will lapse if premiums are not received for three consecutive months.
Who’s got the right to make changes to the policy?
Only the policy holder/main member is allowed to do any changes on the policy, however the premium payer does have an authority to change/adjust mode of payment specifically debit order & stop order.
Am I able to move my existing policy from my current insurer to Tshipi-Noto?
Yes, you should provide Tshipi-Noto with the following documents:
- A policy documents from the previous insurer.
- Recent six (6months) proof of payment.
What is the minimum and maximum age entry?
The minimum age at entry for Main Member and Spouse is 18yrs old, the Maximum age at entry is 65 years and 75 years for spouse.
The maximum entry age is 21 for dependent children (25 if the child is a full-time student). A child who has reached the maximum age can be added with R40 rands or convert to their own policy within three months of turning that age.
The maximum entry age for your adult dependents is 65 years. There are no maximum ages for products covering senior citizens and Masakhane policies.
When does the cover start on the policy?
The cover will only start on the first day of the current month if we receive premiums between the 1st and the 7th day of that month. If we receive your premium after the 7th of that month, it will start on the 1st day of the following month.
What documents are needed when lodging a claim?
The following documents are required at claim stage:
- A fully completed funeral claim form (should be completed by the beneficiary or policy owner).
- A certified copy of the deceased’s national identity document or passport.
- A certified copy of the beneficiary’s national identity document or passport.
- Notification of death or still birth form (all four pages) – DHA 1663 (can be obtained from the funeral parlour, doctor that certified the death, mortuary, or Home Affairs); and
- A certified copy of the computerized death certificate.
- Valid proof of banking details (a certified bank statement or a certified letter from the bank, not older than three months).
- For unnatural death: A police statement – should be taken to the investigating officer to complete and stamp;
- For unnatural death: An accident report
- If the claim is for a foreign national, a copy of a valid passport and a valid work permit (at the time of their death).
- If the claim is for a foreign national who is an extended family member, proof that they were residing in South Africa at the time of their death; and in the case of a claim for a stillbirth, a doctor’s letter confirming the age of the foetus (i.e., the number of weeks) at time of the stillbirth.
How do I pay for Tshipi-Noto policy?
You can pay using Cash, Debit Order, Stop Order or Easypay.
What is the turnaround time for a claim to be paid?
Tshipi-Noto will make claim payments within two working days of receiving all required documentation. Claim payments can only be made into South African bank accounts.
